Foundation backfill

Foundation backfill

Backfilling the foundation. This is the process of replacing the soil in and around the foundation wall. Backfill can occur after the block wall has cured long enough to gain sufficient strength and after foundation waterproofing, insulating, and water management steps are done. After spending seemingly endless hours toiling away in the foundation trench, it was incredible to watch this excavator cover up all of the work in a matter of minutes.

During and after the foundation backfill process, the backfill is compacted in order to prevent future settling under the slab or around the perimeter of the house.
