Getting the building site clean was one of my biggest tasks over the last year. It’s hard to understate the amount of scrap, debris, and extra materials that can accumulate when a house is framed (or, you know, framed twice). A clean site is safer and nicer to work in, and it’s better for the building too. Sawdust left on a floor, for example, can be a fire hazard or get wet and create mold.
There are a few different approaches to jobsite cleanup. Some contractors end the day by having workers clean the site, while others (especially on larger projects) might bring in a third party cleaning crew. And some prioritize having the site spotlessly clean every day vs. cleaning off and on and then meticulously at the very end. It’s not a bad idea to ask contractors about how they keep a site clean to make sure it works for you and your project.
